Pato Banton / DJ NTU Ecstatic Extravaganza

Event Description

Ecstatic Dance Honoka‘a is back with another special Saturday Evening Dance on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

We invite you to move with us on “Honoka‘a Green & Gold Day” as we celebrate Spring Equinox and promote Hō‘ā & Hāmākua Harvest’s Aloha ‘Āina Spring Equinox Planting (Sunday, March 19), and Hawai‘i Farmer’s Union United.

Facilitating this dance, we’re honored to host one of the Big Island’s dance music pioneers, Odysseus.

From what we gather, Odysseus has something very unique planned for us, as he will be accompanied by special guests performing alongside him during his set. Joining him for this dance are Samantha Smith, Marika Ripke, Hayden Spector, and Michael Drummer.

We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve!

“Minister Pato Banton” is also a Grammy-nominated reggae legend that has recorded and toured the world with acts like The English Beat, Steel Pulse, UB40, and Sting—to name just a few.

During the year 2000, while in the midst of a global trek with Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD organization, which combined huge festivals with music outreach programs to poor and underprivileged communities, Pato learned that two of his sons had been shot in a drive-by shooting. He immediately put his career on hold and turned his sorrow into the impetus for community and educational initiatives that would consume the following years of his life.

Although his four-decade career has also earned him a place in the British Music Hall of Fame and a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award for his tireless community work to reduce gun crime, his journey has increasingly transcended the music business into arenas of youth outreach, teaching in schools and colleges, writing new curriculum for children with learning disabilities and Global Spiritual Ministry.

Now based in Southern California, Pato & his wife Antoinette Rootsdawtah continue to record and tour the world extensively, conveying a positive and uplifting message of global peace and love for humanity while simultaneously serving as a Teacher, Counselor, Mentor, and Minister “of the verb” to his Fans, Friends and Spiritual Family.

Expect lots of dynamic movement weaved into and with yoga, conditioning, and cardio. It’s sweaty and fun, challenging both mobility and endurance. Her classes always finish off with deep stretches. Pascale loves music and intentionally curates diverse playlists based on the energy invited for each class.

Pascale has been actively teaching yoga since 2009. She currently teaches on both the East and West sides of the Big Island. She encourages the exploration of somatic movement, creative expression, and freedom.

Shakti flow is a dynamic fusion of yoga, dance, and core integration. This liberating practice allows for the conscious connection to the sacred feminine through building strength, grace, and vitality.
