SKY MAKAI (Facilitator)

Sky Makai

Sky Makai’s gift of being able to bring out and capture the essence of the moment in music—as well as in imagery—has made him a “heart-filled” favorite over the years. He was one of the original Ecstatic Dance DJs at Kalani-Honua, and the Honoka’a People’s Theatre on the Big Island and helped to develop the scene in Williams, Oregon. His music grew alongside the blossoming Ecstatic Dance scene—from bud to flower to the wildly sweet fruit it is developing into now.

Sky’s vision is set upon the potential for divine bliss through dance—and so he has fostered the scene’s deep healing and connectedness by crafting sets with the intention of encouraging movement. Sky ignores the limitations of genres to help dancers break through barriers: mental, emotional, and physical. Sky firmly believes in sharing the profound dance experience that has blessed his life, teaching others from around the world how to connect to the sacred rhythms of music and dance through the Ecstatic Dance format.

“I believe holding space through the Ecstatic Dance Guidelines catalyzes the unification of communities, so that those communities can support each other’s mutual healing and joy.” – Sky Makai
