φhαέthon—co-host of Ecstatic Honokaa and music enthusiast, drawing inspiration from her namesake, the tropicbird (koa‘e kea), aethereus, out to sea much of the time. On her rare sightings as music facilitator, she seeks intricate ecstatic states in the energy transition between space, time, light, and sound. As a daughter of the sun and our vast oceanid home, she is a humbled and misty-eyed lover of the shores of sonic worlds defined by salty contrast with sweet, where lies the intangible melting point of now and then.
Both reverent observer and photon dancer, φhαέthon delights in percussive echoes of interwoven polyrhythms resolving into a swirling wash of sound and voices from here, far, and the not-so-distant past speaking of beautiful things to come.
Alea has been practicing and teaching yoga for 20 years. She started with Sacred Heart Yoga by Ruey Ryburn, who she studied and graduated with at Sacred Path Healing arts school on O‘ahu. Alea also learned Partner Yoga from Lori Kimata and Ye Nguen at Kapiolani Park on O‘ahu. In 2019 she got her 200hr Yoga Teacher training from Full Circle Yoga School and taught at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Hapuna for 4.5 years, teaching Hatha/Vinyasa and SUP Yoga. Alea also took a Buddhi Yoga training with Maria Steele & loves to incorporate dance and movement with her yoga practice. She is also an aerial yoga & aerial arts practitioner.
